I have been in this field for 18 long years, though purists may argue that 'long' isn't long enough. Not a cause for my worry though since this is my own blog and possesses works churned out by my thought-factory. I wonder why not such an idea as pens are omnipresent in a individual's person for most of his lifetime. They could have microbes present on their skin and over a period of time, analysis of the microbial population on the pen may give us an idea about the skin pathogenicity of a person.
