Manchester City has literally bought the title last season with the signings of stars like Adebayor, Toure and Nasri. But, they have half-heartedly placed a bid for Van Persie, given his spate of injuries. He had a great last season but is now preferring to move on to other clubs citing the need for trophies.
Had Arsenal succeeded in keeping Nasri, Adebayor and other players, their trophy drought would have come to an end long before. Now, Arsenal is hoping against hope that Persie remains in the side with the same rich vein of form of the previous season.
They have had excellent signings this window with Podolski and Giroud coming on board. If Van Persie stays on, their forward line would be one to be envied of. Van Persie playing behind Giroud and supported by Gervinho and Podolski sounds dangerous.
But, RVP cannot be blamed for moving to any trophy-winning clubs. He has to decide between staying at Arsenal (which has stood with him all the years) and help them win trophies or moving to another club seeking personal glories. There is also the monetary benefits coming into play.
If RVP leaves, then the club's title and trophy attacks next season would suffer seriously. The jury will be out on whether he stays or not in a few days and this decision can change Arsenal's fortunes massively!
