A new angle!

We are past the age where technological innovations were meant to aid human living conditions. Present era innovations are focussed towards completely eliminating the human aspect. What better example can be shown than that of mobile phones? Considering a typical day in the life of a decently earning family man, he wakes up at around 7 in the morning to complete his prayers, takes a bath, has his breakfast and leaves for work at 9. This is his morning schedule. Mobile phone integrates seamlessly with this schedule without him being aware of it. He may have his prayers on his mobile phone, may have his bath interrupted by a call, or may have any other issues that could be easily be ignored at that moment. Instead, he chooses to 'interact' with his phone. What he loses is the all-important aspect of a conversation with his wife and children. Those morning little chit-chats that his wards may so badly need to get through the emotional drain of being in school, and the talk t...

Strained Quartet

We talked unknownst to each other, that, All hell would break loose. What could possibly come of two talking in harmony? Us, filmy for a film even, Shattered beyond cry or wail. Crying for spilt milk is adagedly a vestige The value of milk spilt resurfaces only then, And crying for lost value, Is it a vestigial adage too? After all, none can rue when they have what they crave, Two people desperate for each other, One voluntarily cocooning, the other involuntarily so, Nothing of what we had felt fake, Though people make it out to be. Trust, on which everything should be based so, Even that ensured, Neither of us get why each of us is separate. All four desperately wanting the other, Too egoistic to spell it out And yet still confined, And shackled to persons they bear less of the love to, Or is that false?

Rahul’s technique and success

I admire Rahul Dravid. But wait, who does not? There are enthusiasts who say Tendulkar was a far better player than Dravid was. I chose to vehemently disagree to this. In this post, I will try to dissect the technique and temperament of the Indian cricket team's stalwarts, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar Dravid. He was nicknamed the Wall by the cricketing fraternity for quite obvious reasons. His stats are testament to this name. He has faced a whopping 31,258 balls in Tests alone. In comparison, Sachin had faced around 23,000 and Kallis around 26,000. You might argue that Dravid played a good 30 innings higher than Tendulkar but again, where was Tendulkar when India needed an anchor at one end to stay afloat? Dravid performed this role time and again, and with immense technique and concentration. His technique can be highlighted by a particular stroke that everyone around the world plays. The cover drive. We have seen players employing this shot on the up or along the ground to ...

2015 Here I come!

The New Year begins on a sedate note, as did the previous year and the year before it. Sedate is how I view it, in spite of all the brouhaha that people in my world are currently throwing up. We need reasons to get excited, don't we? And an otherwise normal Thursday, except that a calendar has to be bought anew, sends us all into delirium. But we are social animals, hence the craving to socialize. Amid this din, I feel surprisingly calm and serene. Maybe it is because that I have many plans to make this year mine. Maybe because I hope to achieve whatever I set my mind to. Maybe the rush of many ideas, hopes and dreams, through me, of which some may see completion, some fall by the wayside, some will conveniently be forgotten and some abandoned due to difficulty. Having no impractical planes to ascend in the 15 th instalment of 21 st century, I have a particular path charted out crystal-clear and is very easily scalable. The post has my random thoughts on this year'...

Chaotic Notes!

Music interests me so much! I have been trying to figure out a reason behind the seemingly mundane notes interspersed in a queer manner, fascinating me so much. IT WAS JUST CHAOS, I told my cynical self. But Dan Brown or some guy, said "There is order in chaos". And I had my self saying to another of my self "How is this possible? Isn't the very definition of chaos, the lack of order?" This quote stuck with me, like a lizard's legs adhering to the wall. Everywhere I see chaos, I try to sniff a whiff of a pattern, an order, or anything that will help me to understand and organize it. And regarding music, I stumbled upon this very order when hearing a soulful tune and unleashing my long reined-in imagination. What I uncovered was this. The creativity that has to be put in, the twist and turn that the mind that a mind has to undergo to the point of craziness, in search of a tune that would be radically different from all the tunes that had been rolled out in ...

Human Vagaries

Behold the vagaries of men!                     Converts seamlessly achieved by seasons Bides their time as an eagle its prey by reason No plausible cause for them to be given unto nature Thus taking the edge and defiance unto nurture         The calm seas harbour a beastly weapon                    Stirred to action, only a tectonic shift in foundation. Such are humans. Outer tranquil verily masks inner turmoil, but few do alter path.

Perpetual Pursuit

That, which we most require is lost on us, precisely when in need. Be it words for an essay, couplet for a proposal, sporting gear for a try-out, we are worked to chase them incessantly, some sooner in acquisition and some when time partially abides by and even some, never at all. It is always said, “The means determine the ends”. So, I ask, is the end which concerns most? I am afraid not. The means do. I am in pursuit of always some fact or fiction, since my inception. The first day, what I need is what none will ever understand, and hence, believe theirs over time, through attrition and joy. Five years further, I gain a sapling yet mine moulders don’t. I am, then, in pursuit of objects of awe, that which I will lose 10 years down. 5 more, and I am, age-entailing fantasies .10 years further, responsibility descends on me, and I am, sustenance, not merely of me. 10 further, and I am in pursuit of contentment, and in even 10, a gradual settle into excused resignation. Over three score...
